How To Back Up Contacts On Google Account

Losing contacts because you lost your device should be a thing of the past. With the Google contacts sync you can save all your contacts and access them anywhere you’re logged in. All you have to do is to set up your Android or Apple device for sync through very few simple steps. You don’t have to be a geek.

For Apple Devices

Go to your settings, select Accounts and passwords> Add Account. When there you will be given a number of accounts including Google, Yahoo, Outlook, Exchange, AOL. We shall choose Google for this case, then log in with your Google account credentials, go through the verification process. Sometimes you may be prompted to verify the login from another device you have logged in before.

The next step will be going back to settings again, then select Contacts and then set default account to Gmail. This will be the default account where all your new contacts will be saved, you may also import the existing contacts to this account.

For Android Devices

Go to settings> Accounts> Google

Then log in to you your Google account if you haven’t done it before, enable contacts sync. After you have done that go to your contacts app and set Google to be the default account. Remember your contacts will only be saved to cloud if you have an active internet connection and sync enabled in settings. For Android devices, you will need your Google Play Services to be up to date in order for contact synchronisation to be successful.
